Using CelesteCS JQL Extensions functions is straightforward – there is no macro to add and no configuration to perform. Here is how to do it:

  • Go to your Jira instance and open Issues > Search for issues.
  • Switch the search mode to Advanced (JQL) using the link in the top right corner of the issue navigator.
  • Use any of the plugin’s jqlx-prefixed functions directly inside your JQL query, for example:
    issue in jqlxIssuesWithAttachmentCountGreaterThan("project = TST", 3)
  • Run the search. The results are returned as standard Jira issues, so you can save the filter, add it to a dashboard gadget, or use it anywhere else a JQL query is accepted.

The same functions can also be used inside the JQL query parameter of Atlassian’s own Jira Issues macro on a Confluence page, or inside the JQL query parameter of the CelesteCS Reporting Jira Data Provider macro, letting you build Confluence reports on data that plain JQL cannot express on its own.

On Jira Cloud: the functions available in the Cloud version work the same way – type them directly into the JQL search bar in the Jira Cloud issue navigator, with autocomplete suggesting them as you type. See the Functions page for which functions are available on Cloud today.
